The pair of unusual circular salts are were made in London in 1710 by Christopher Canner. They are engraved with the original arms, probably those of either Davie, Devie or Dewy of county Devon, between initials “S” and “D” . The Britannia hallmarks struck on the underside of the bowl are in fair condition and the colour and surface are good. At 4.8 troy ounces they weigh a good 50% heavier than most trencher salts you see.
