This unique Squirrel Model, is so rare in being Sterling silver (92.5%) as nearly
every other model we have seen has been 800 Standard. The body is marked
with the import mark of Berthold Muller as well as the British hallmarks put
on when it was imported into Chester in 1899. The head is detachable and is
also marked with the British hallmarks.
On top of being fully marked for Sterling Standard, it’s sculptural quality and
condition is lovely. However, it has lost a Hazelnut or two during its lifetime,
in front of its right foot. Never before have we seen an Antique Sterling Silver
Squirrel with such attention to detail. In person, the character seemingly comes
to life.
It weighs 29.9 troy ounces (930 grams), and stands at approximately 10 inches
high.
