A pair of Scottish Salvers, made in Edinburgh in 1743 by James Weems, when the assay master was Edward Lothian.The Chippendale scalloped border and rim surrounding a scrolling floral flat chased band centered by the engraved crest of Wemyss. Each is engraved in tyical Scottish form with the motto ' Je Pense' above a swan crest. Mounted on short cabriole legs with pad feet. Measuring approx. 10" (25.5cm) in diameter.
