A fine condition hexagonal cast taperstick with stepped base. David Green, whose mark is unusually struck twice on the base, is part of a long line of specialst candlestick makers. He worked under Joseph Bird (specialist maker) and in turn was master of renowned candlestick specialists Jame Gould and John Cafe.
Engraved with initials of the period "D" over "WA", possibly given as a wedding gift - 'D' would be the first initial of the surname, 'W' the initial of the husband and 'A' that of the wife.
The taperstick measures 4.25" (11cm) high.
