Castle Top Card Case Birmingham 1845 by Wheeler & Cronin

Card cases were popular in the second half of the 19th century, and topographical examples are one variety, such as this example of Windsor Castle. What makes this card case special of course is the high relief decoration. It is also engraved with the crest of a forearm, the hand grasping a serpent. The case measures 3.9" (10cm) x 2.75" (7cm).
