A rare English Composite Stem Baluster Mead Coin glass ca. 1711, the cup shaped bowl over a hollow knop sided by annulations and holding a 1711 coin, above an inverted baluster with tear and basal knop on a folded foot. 16.5cm high. £3,550.
A rare and massive English Roemer c.1680-1700, from the historic collection at Nymans, West Sussex. Provenance: from the possessions of the Countess of Rosse, Anna Parsons, sister of Oliver Messell and daughter of Maud and Leonard Messell. Mother of the 1stEarl of Snowdon and inheritor of the Nymans estate. Sold at Bonham’s. The English examples that are known tend to have a grace and scale that eluded the Continental examples for the most part and are important objects for the early English glass collector.
